News of Robert Gedaliah
Melody Chang - December 19, 2019

It is with great sadness that we share that Robert Gedaliah, CTM, a long-time SEC Roughriders Toastmasters member and committed mentor, passed away on December 19, 2019. Robert joined SEC Roughriders in April 1989 and counseled and coached a generation of champion speakers, including five finalists in the World Championship of Public Speaking. With his partner Rande Davis Gedaliah, CTM, who survives him, they formed "Speaking for Results"® Coaching/Speaking/Workshops in 1992, and built a top-drawer reputation in the professional speaking world. Active members of the National Speakers Association (NSA), Robert and Rande were keynote presenters at the 1994 Toastmasters International Convention, based on recommendations from District 46, and were popularly received. Co-author with his wife of The Sport of Speaking, and Adjunct Professor at Yeshiva University where he taught speech and communication to modern Orthodox rabbis. Robert earned the name "Rocket Rob" from his nine marathons.

Because of Robert's and Rande's reputation for helping and caring for others, the New York City Chapter of NSA created an award in their honor called the Gedaliah Award. The award is given to one member a year who exhibits the same traits of caring and support. SEC Roughriders Toastmasters Club hosted a special meeting on May 2nd 2019 honoring Robert Gedaliah and Rande Davis, and the special meeting was a beautiful testimony to their love and passion for our club.

Robert will be dearly missed.
